Effect of nano ZrO₂ addition on the properties of Ca_0.86Sr_0.14CuO₂ added Bi 2223 composites

Abstract Effect of introducing nano ZrO 2 particles into (Ca,Sr)CuO added Bi 2223 superconductor composites is studied. Microstructures revealed that 20 mol. % phase to formed as micron sized among the platelet shaped grains. Distribution in has enhanced critical current density (J c ) and flux pinning force (F p substantially fields up 9 T at K. Introduction composite reacted with additional secondary phases increasing amount a rise content. This resulted lowering J (0) due gradual reduction fraction superconducting phases, but retained field range which was achieved. At 10 wt.% addition , suppressed, 2212 promoted. Scaling behaviour shown dominant mechanism low be normal surface interfacial defects. The fact distributes itself fine spherical 2223, without causing degradation matrix material, significance opens scope optimize microstructures further for enhancement pinning.
